Camille Vernet, a documentarian filmmaker has produced a series of videos highlighting a variety of artists in BC. in a documentary series.

One of the featured artists is Jeanne Krabbendam, a mixed media visual artist in Vancouver BC. As her assistant, I was included in the interview. As you watch this video you will get a better understanding of the process that inspires Jeanne and I as we create our mix media art.

Elements of Composition

This two day composition course touches on the way an artwork gets put together. The choices that the artist has in placing shapes, lines and colour in their art work. We will speak about the difference in horizontal, vertical and oblique art pieces, explain the ‘Golden Edge’ and how to lead the viewer’s eye into your art work. Working on an abstract landscape piece, the participants will come home with a piece of art of their own compositional choices.

A great base for anybody who paints or draws!

Exciting Collages

An intensive workshop in which participants learn to build a collage painting with different materials and tools while keeping the ‘glow’ in their art work. This workshop is for everyone who wants to learn about the steps in the collage process. The instructors will guide the participants through hands-on and technical advice in making an exciting piece of art in two afternoons!

We will work with:
– acrylics / liquid acrylics
– gels and mediums,
– collage material such as magazines, photographs, artifacts
– stamping, stenciling
– glazing, lifting and more

Weekend Festival of Tools

Of course you can paint with a brush, but don’t let that withhold you from trying other tools. This weekend we will be exploring a range of different tools and techniques to create an interesting texture and great designs. The base of our work will be acrylics.

Come prepared for an extra fun weekend of experimentation and creation.

Bring cover-up and yourself. The rest will be waiting for you in the Art Room!

The Power of Colour

Come and explore the power of colour in this short workshop which will introduce you to colour temperature, value, transparency, colour mixing and using colour in a painting.

Participants come home with a basic knowledge of colour and what they can achieve by using colour in their art work.

Join me to explore techniques such as photo transfers, gels and mediums and layering; using different types of print material, fabrics, papers, found objects and textures. Learn to blend textures with plasters to build your own unique style of painting.
